This delightful painting under glass was found in a circa “1755” Pennsylvania stone farmhouse located on 134 bucolic acres in Bucks County. I was able to acquire two of these paintings signed by the artist “Ross” and the second one is proudly hanging in my entry.

The artist captured a beautiful farm house lending Pennsylvania flavor flanked by trees with blue sky’s overhead. The style lends whispers of a naïve folk art composition interpreted by the artist using brush strokes of whimsy. This painting just explodes with happiness and delight as the birds are taking flight in the sky while the trees seem to be thriving because of the springtime weather.

There is some paint loss located on the upper right hand corner as shown with further (minimal) loss sprinkled in the middle of the large majestic tree. The frame may have been added later and the age is unknown. I tried to research this artist but hit a dead end. Apparently, there was an artist studio on this farm but the previous owners name according to the deed at the “Buck’s County Recorder’s office” was “Hall” not “Ross”. Maybe it was his wife’s maiden name? A mystery for sure but an intriguing one at that!

The frame is in good condition without any chips or cracks to report. It was painted in a soft buttermilk color that gestures a neutral hue which does not “take-away” from the art focal point. The back cover has experienced some paper loss as shown but is intact enough to allow adequate coverage.

Art is a very specific thing and paintings either get our attention by drawing us in or not hence by either the subject matter, style or colors used. They send a message by awakening our emotions factoring in an alluring scene that resonates within us. I hope this painting speaks to you emotionally so it can be admired in your lovely home every time you pass by! Enjoy!

Overall height including the frame measurements are as follows: 12” tall, measures 17” across (right to left) and is 1” deep.
