Primitive Wall Box Antique Inspired with Autumn Pleasantries
Wall boxes are ever so popular as they have interesting features and can hold either candles, dried flowers or in this case interesting accoutrements for autumn decorating. This antique inspired wall box was created by Harry and he did a fabulous job!
One has to understand the principal behind making antique inspired offerings that demand attention to detail in order to breath old life into new wood. Character flaws are not only time consuming to do but have to look as though they have been there for years. Harry takes this into consideration when he creates these pieces and does a great job using his talent and skill to do so as referenced in image 7, 10 & 11.
The design on the box is simple but yet lends just enough detail to make this piece interesting. The color in the wood is as “right as rain” sporting inconsistent dark highlights. The edges on this box are all hand sanded and boast curves and subtle indents. The smaller size is perfect for many of us who have limited space in our home and this box can either be hung or will rest nicely on your kitchen counter or in an open cupboard.
I filled the box with autumn pleasantries that include dried garlic accented with brown homespun, quince, faux earth tone flowers, gourds, tallo berries, bittersweet and a preserved leaf from our various maple trees. You will also receive the brown excelsior that can be placed on the bottom of the box to gain height for the autumn botanicals.
This quaint wall box dressed in earthy pleasures can also be hung on the side of a cupboard with a gay homespun apron nearby. A window sill may be another option and what about in your pantry where you can also store fresh pumpkins and corn peeking out of tall orchard baskets to create a divine autumn look? You can replace the contents with Christmas greens and berries for the holidays with candles too! This piece is very versatile, specially hand crafted and made just for you! Enjoy!
