This special Belsnickel arrived just in time from the North Pole to make your acquaintance housed in an old box with an array of festive greens inside. He is holding a candle that lights up so the reindeer will find him! This gathering is just amazing and will certainly bring the holiday spirit of Christmas enchantment into your home for the holidays!

This Belsnickel is from “Ragon House” and is retired. I removed the bow from the candle and used pinecones, greens and berries as accents. The candle was also too bright so I toned it down with paint to achieve a pleasing worn look we all tend to gravitate towards. He is a custom piece because of these changes that you will not find anywhere else.

His red suit has tinsel accents and his face is beautifully done as the details were captured with a brush stroke adding charm and character. He accepts an “LR44” small round battery that is included and can be replaced on the bottom as shown. There is no timer feature. **We recommend removing the battery before you pack him away.**

This advertising box displaying a label on the right hand side is from the “James S. Mason Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They manufactured black shoe polish but changed the color to white offered later. This box dates from the late 19th to the early 20th century. The company operated business in this location until “1919” and first opened in the year of “1832”.

The graphics on the label are strong. However the top area as well as the left hand bottom corner are missing. Machine dovetailed construction on all four corners. There is some separation in the dovetailed joints referencing the top locations on the back right and left hand side as shown in images 24 & 27. However the rest of the joined areas are tight. Some expected wood loss can be found on the top edges as referenced in images 28 & 33.

The dry attic surface gives way to a delicious nutmeg hue that is consistently present throughout. There are some areas that are lighter in color on all four sides from wear throughout the years. A small log was used as a pedestal for the Belsnickel to stand on as shown in images 32 & 33. The box was filled with brown excelsior to gain height for the beautiful greens placed inside. Some of the greens have a frosted appearance while the others portray a snow tipped accents. Holly is the focal point placed near the Belsnickel to highlight his presence. White and red berries seem to meander their way amongst the greens and offer enchanting color.

This gathering is small enough to place on a shelf or deep window sill. Another idea is to place it on a table for the holidays so when family and friends gather for a delicious meal it can be enjoyed as a very unusual centerpiece. The battery operation of the candle allows this piece to be placed anywhere of your choosing and the soft glow will light up the beautiful painted features created in Santa’s face. Happy Holidays and enjoy!

Belsnickle stands 10” tall, measures 2 ½” across the bottom and measures 3 ½” @ the widest point across his arms. Overall height of the box including Santa is 13 ¾”. Box measures 14 ½” across allowing for the extended green branches, measures 8” at the tallest point (back area again allowing for the extension of greens) and measures 11 ¼” front to back (greens extension included).

~Freight (Standard Mail) included, however Insurance is optional and can be purchased @ checkout ~ within the continental U.S.
