Homespun Bonnet Tree Housed in Stoneware Crock Gathering

#726

Regular price $149.50

Are you looking for a unique display to use during the holidays and beyond………then this next offering may exactly what you are looking for! Everything on the tree is included (as pictured) so all you have to do is open the box and set it out with no further ado! How convenient is that!

Each bonnet was hand made to specifications that would work for this wonderful tree wrapped in a burlap base sporting a pretty nutmeg color. A total of four miniature bonnets are included and have various pleasing fabrics such as warm brown calicos, brown and red wool tweeds, ecru onesburg and a red and cream windowpane check homespun. These adorable bonnets are machine stitched with a tie in the back and have been gently antiqued.

The two tin candle-holders boasting a crimped edge do come with a pure beeswax candle and crisp white tallow berries. I used fresh cranberries to fill the wells (not included) that make for a showy display creating a classic and natural element. You can also use fresh boxwood or other evergreens too.

Sprigs of corn tassel, three heart pods and an old tin cookie cutter sporting a running animal fill in the sparse areas of the tree lending neutral colors that stand out well.

A beeswax lightly scented star was used as a tree topper and tied with string to secure it to the branch. This tree calls home in a plain and simple crock boasting a rich buttermilk color. There is a chip located on the rim lip as shown in image 20 while image 19 portrays various imperfections in the clay that occurred before the firing process on the rim as well. Several tiny holes located at random can be found throughout this piece that really seems to add character to the overall look. Tiny pieces of clay protrude the glazed surface located on the body and only appear randomly throughout as shown in images 17 through 20. This piece is unmarked and in good overall condition without any cracks to report.

I can envision this tree in a quiet bedroom corner taking center stage or what about using it on top of a blanket chest with other coordinating textiles nearby. Don’t forget the baby shoes and early mohair stuffed animals too as this would make a whimsical display that can be enjoyed all year. Enjoy!

Overall height from the base of the crock to the top of the tree is 24” tall, tree itself stands 23” tall, measures approximately 12” across @ the widest point (bottom), the base measures 4” across the bottom. Bonnets stand 6” tall tapering down in the back to 6 ¼”, measure 4” across when spread out and measures 2 ¼” deep. Candle-holders stand 6” tall (including the candle), ½” tall without the candle, measure 2 ½” across the bottom and measure 3” across the top. The candle stands almost 5” tall and has a ¼” bottom base area. Heart pods vary in size from 2 ½” tall to 3” tall. Tin animal cookie cutter measures 3” across (right to left) by 1” Tall. Crock stands 5” tall, measures 5” across the top and measures 4 ½” at the bottom.
