Early Sewing Clamp Embroidered Top

#919

Regular price $195.50

This beautiful and nifty sewing clamp exhibiting an embroidered pin cushion done in turkey red thread is a must have for your sewing collection. The rich patina attributes in the wood lends warmth to this utilitarian piece that dates from the mid to late 19th century. Featuring a threaded, adjustable clamp that would have been fastened to the edge of a table or sewing stand while the fabric was held taught to aid in executing each stitch.

A necessary “make-do” repair implemented on the top by way of incorporating extra stitches to remedy worn areas stuck with pins extended the life of this pin cushion. A hole is located in the back of the cushion as shown. An age related crack located at the bottom was resolved early on by using two old screws and is now “tight and right”! Three old pins are also included.  Wonderful and ingenious utilitarian piece  that assisted the seamstress in her work of creating something very special!  Enjoy!

Measures 4” across, stands 6 ½” tall and is 2” deep.
