Tin Plate Calico Strawberries Fluted Candle Holder

This festive tin plate sporting a decorative incised edge holds pretty strawberries and a candle holder accented by a spray of meadow flowers. Everything on this plate is included and this piece is ready to set out and enjoy as soon as it is received.

This unusual plate lends a rich dark patina and boasts a mimicked scalloped design near the edge. There are some areas of surface rust present located near the edge more on the front than on the back as shown in images 3, 4 & 5. A hole is present at the top and provides another display opportunity which is to hang this piece on the wall. There is a recessed area inside the plate surrounded by the decorative edge which adds dimension to the overall look. The plate is in good overall condition without any deep scratches or bends to report.

Handmade, lightly scented strawberries fashioned in a blend of calico’s and windowpane check homespun fabrics sporting a crimson red appearance now call home inside the plate. The tops are comprised of forest green wool and each strawberry is dotted with a realistic stem.

I chose a rectangular fluted tart tin to use as a candle holder and added early peas inside along with a piece of anise that adds texture and color. A candle, rubbed in spices is also included. Airy meadow flowers add a fresh, soft and natural look to the existing accoutrements.

This is just a fun gathering that will certainly add color and interest presented on either a kitchen counter, open cupboard or placed on a table. Enjoy!

Plate measures a consistent 8” across (right to left) and 8” deep and stands ¼” tall, strawberries vary in size and all include stem measurements…..largest measures 4 ½” tall by 2” across @ the widest point, next size is 3 ¾” tall by 1 ¾” across @ the widest point, next size is 4” tall by 1 ½” across @ the widest point and the last size is 3 ½” tall by 1 ½” across @ the widest point. Fluted tart tin candle holder stands 3 ½” tall (including the candle), measures almost 1” tall without the candle, measures 3 ½” across (right to left) and measures almost 2” deep (front to back). Meadow flower spray stands 8” tall and measures 1 ¾” across the bottom which is the widest point.
