19th Century Schoolbooks Cruise Lamp Gathering with Surprise

#686

Regular price $64.50

This gathering craves a cozy space possibly on top of a table to call home. Two old schoolbooks and a nice rendition of an early double cruise lamp (top only) complete this look and you will also receive a surprise! What is the surprise you may ask? Let’s just say it will add flavor and color to this gathering and I am sure you won’t be disappointed!

The cruise lamp has a great folk art look and boasts a classic Pennsylvania pinwheel design located at the top. Number “88” is stamped in the upper right hand side on the front. This piece is in very good condition and now acts as a candle holder…..candle included. It can certainly be hung as well because of the slot opening in the back and can grace the front of a cupboard creating stylish results.

The ”Ray’s” 19th century Practical Arithmetic” Child’s book has great worn presence boasting a dark front cover along with a barn red spine. This book shows wear and is missing the front page along with several torn pages sprinkled randomly throughout the book but in its defense still shows well.

The second 19th century book entitled, “McGuffey’s New Fifth Eclectic Reader” has a plain cover with a pleasing tan hue. There are some raised creases on the front as well as the back cover and appropriate wear is present especially on the lower right front corner. One half of a page….. in the front has been torn out as shown in image 18 and a few other pages in the book are ripped but intact. The black spine is in good condition. Both of these books have page separation from the spine as well as staining to some of the pages as referenced in the pictures.

This charming en sample promises to add flavor to any nook lending character and happiness! A pair of old child’s shoes or early spectacles placed nearby will render wonderful results! Enjoy!

Cruise Lamp stands 5 ¼” tall, measures 2 ½” across the top opening, measures 2” @ the bottom and is 2 ¾” across the top (pinwheel design area). McGuffey Reader book measures 7 ½” tall, measures 5” across (right to left) and is 1” thick. Ray’s Arithmetic book measures 6 ½” tall, measures 4 ½” across (right to left) and is almost 1” thick.
