Primitive Chicken Coop Old Hen Marked Germany Nesting Box Gathering

This handmade chicken coop fashioned from old wood and chicken wire comes with the Nesting Box, nests, Prairie Grass for the loft area and an adorable old chalkware German hen. What a special gathering that will not only add whimsy to your homestead but is sprinkled with primitive charm that just can't be beat!

A hinged screened door was added to the front of the coop, "in keeping to tradition" while a loft accommodates even the most persnickety hens that insist on a "birds' eye view"! Careful attention to detail was our key goal when designing this piece and we took it a step further by adding a Nesting Box with nests fashioned from an egg crate and then dry brushed with chocolate brown paint.

All of the primitive speckled eggs were glued individually by hand inside the nest to add fun interest to the box. A graduated ladder was fashioned from old wood so the cackling hens could gain access to their "maternity ward" while local gossip could be shared and repeated by all! Of course the stories would change along the way resulting in more spicy detail that got spun into a fantastic "yarn"! It comes with the territory!

A darling old chalkware chicken sitting on sage green paper forming a circle guards the inside of the coop with a close eye on the comings and goings around her. She is appropriately marked, "Germany" on the underside and is in good condition. There are a couple chips on the top of her comb that were touched up by color matching the paint. Old glue residue on the paper near the edge of her body is apparent and this paper is also separating from the cardboard base in about three places. She still has strong color and does have a great look as there is plenty of definition to her feathers.

This one of a kind offering is entirely handmade in the primitive style we are all so fond of and renders a small size for great decorating possibilities, whether it be placed in a small cupboard or on top of a shelf. Your imagination can certainly run wild with this fun piece, just in time for spring! Enjoy!

Chicken Coop stands 6" Tall, measures 7 1/2" across (right to left) & is 4 1/2" deep. The hinged door opening is 3 1/2" across (right to left) & is 4 1/4" Tall. Chicken Nesting Box Holder measures 4 1/2" across (right to left), is 1 1/2" Tall and 1 1/4" Deep. Nesting Boxes measure 1" by 1" square. Old Ladder stands 5" Tall, measures 1 3/4" at the widest point @ the bottom and graduates to 1 1/2" @ the top. Old Chalkware Hen stands 1 3/4" Tall, measures 2 1/4" across (right to left) including the paper base & 2 1/2" (front to back).
