Primitive Rabbit Tin Farm Pail Spring Gathering

#606

Regular price $48.50

This unusual gathering is perfect for springtime decorating and will add plenty of whimsy along with enchanting country flavor to your homestead!  Everything inside the pail is included in this gathering and it will be ready to set out and enjoyed, upon receipt!

An old farm pail was my inspiration for spring and the handmade bunny waiting patiently for a new home was placed inside on top of soft Prairie grass.  He would love to make your acquaintance and has such a cute primitive face!  He boasts shoe button eyes and is proudly wearing a heart fashioned from soft  mustard homespun.  This heart has been blanket stitched on the edge and one lone "X" was used as an accent in the middle done in old black thread.  He also sports a rusty bell so if he ever decides to venture out from his home you will be able to hear the bell and find him!  His whiskers have a mind of their own as far as where they end up and his ears are sort of catawampus as well!

This old heavy gauge tin pail has a great surface with random dark areas present throughout with delicious wear that can only be accomplished from daily use and time.  The two metal tabs located on each side with a hole at the top allow a way for the carrying handle to be secured.  There are no holes present as this pail is in good condition.  **A generous supply of Prairie grass is also included that acts as filler in the pail.

I used a small gourd to fashion an "egg basket" that is filled with dry grass and handmade eggs.  This basket does not sit flat and leans a little.  However you would never know the difference when placed in the Prairie grass as the soft texture in the grass seems to cradle the uneven area located on the bottom of the gourd.  The egg colors are robin's egg blue (of course), chocolate brown and warm mustard.  These were painted and accented with speckles for a realistic look as shown in image 10.

A natural gourd in the shape of an egg along with a spray of seed grass and a pine cone grace the inside lending even more texture to the overall look.

This versatile gathering can also be used for the fourth of July as you can just remove the bunny and egg basket.   Patriotic flags can now be inserted in the grass to keep them in place and what a great centerpiece this would make.  You can also use the pail for autumn decorating by placing gourds, dried maple leaves or wee pumpkins inside.  Don't forget about the holidays as this pail can be filled with greens and wee lights housed inside accented with red berries and possibly a Santa or snowman ornament.  I am sure you will get a lot of mileage out of this gathering that will please both you and your homestead for each season yet to come!  Enjoy!

Overall height including the bunny is 11 1/2", Pail itself stands 5 1/4" without the wire handle measurement and stands 10" tall with the handle in the upright position.  Pail measures 6" across the top opening (front to back) and measures 4 1/2" across the bottom.  Rabbit stands 9 3/4" tall, measures 2 1/2" across the bottom and measures 11/2" front to back (near the bottom).  Gourd basket stands 2 1/4" tall and measures almost 2" across the top opening (front to back).
