Antique Miners Railroad Oil Lamp Primitive Christmas Tree Lit Holiday Gathering

#484

Regular price $74.50

Looking for something different this holiday season that will add flavor and charm to your homestead? Well, look no further as this next exciting offering may indeed "fit the bill"! I paired up an old oil lamp with a decorated Christmas tree that promises to light up your home bringing warmth and plenty of holiday cheer with it!

This antique oil lamp sporting a black painted finish has a simple style referred to as a teapot shape. The handle opening at the top still retains its wick and lends another authentic element from long ago. This could have been used as a railroad lamp or also as a hand held miner's torch. There are a couple of dents in the tin, one in the front and another in the back as referenced in images 1, 8 & 9. There are no rusted out areas or holes to report. Even though this oil lamp is missing the original cap, I had other intentions in mind when I purchased it that involved using this piece as a base for a fine holiday tree. A history evoked, wonderful example of early lighting that certainly displays well and has great form!

I found a branch, cut it to the height of the oil lamp and drilled a hole in the center to accommodate a Christmas tree, not pictured. Soup beans were added to weigh down the tree and keep it in place. Small Mercury style ornaments that boast a deep crimson red accent this tree lending old fashioned charm. Aged candy canes are sprinkled throughout the tree and a total of two primitive beeswax Santa's adorn the front and the back. It was very difficult to pick up the detail in these Santa's with my camera, see images 5, 6 & 10 however the one in the back is holding a broom while the one in the front, accented with offset Tallow Berries, boasts a true Belsnickle style as his hands are tucked into the sleeves of his robe. These Santa's smell wonderful and have been hand rubbed with cinnamon!

A 35 brown strand of mini silicone tipped bulbs add such a warm look to the tree casting a soft amber glow. I fashioned up a small heart done in red and ecru homespun to act as an unusual accent for the top of the tree. This was hand stitched in old black thread with two XX's as shown in image 11.

This unique, one of a kind tree would look awesome set in a deep window sill to welcome guests for the holidays or would look great placed in a tall cupboard. Either way, this special gathering will cast enchantment to any room of your home lending charming results! Enjoy!

Overall height is 15" from the base of the oil lamp to the top of the tree. Oil lamp stands 6 1/2" tall, measures almost 1" across the top where the cap would have been & 5 1/4" across the bottom. The tree measurement, branch included is about 14 1/2" tall and measures 5 1/2" across the bottom which is the widest part. Candy canes measure 2 3/4" Tall. Red ornaments are 1" in diameter and measure 1 1/4" Tall. Long, skinny beeswax Santa (front), stands 3" Tall (not including the wire hanger) by 3/4" @ the widest point. Beeswax Santa (back), stands 2" Tall by 1 1/4" @ the widest point. Homespun Heart is 2" Tall by 1" @ the widest point.
