Dough Bowls are so collectible as they come in different shapes, sizes and colors. No two are exactly alike as the patina tells a different story as each one seems to have a personality all their own. This particular hand carved bowl is very unusual because of the shallow form feature as well as how it was constructed. Contents inside bowl as pictured is not included and was created for display ideas.

It appears that wedges of wood have been placed on the sides of the bowl and pieced to join the wooden counterpart as shown in images 14 & 15. I am not convinced that this is a “make-do” repair but rather intended when the bowl was constructed. The overall surface portrays a dry attic finish and the wood has dark areas along with medium and lighter hues that appear at random lending an overall hit and miss color variation. Several cracks can be seen on the side of the bowl as referenced in images 7 & 8 as well as on the bottom near the side area as noted in image 20 and also appear randomly throughout.

Exact age is unknown but we do know that the cracks and surface lend a clue that this piece of treen was not made recently. A very faint area on the bottom exhibits white residue that may resemble paint. A couple tiny chips can also be found on the top edge of the bowl near the outside diameter as shown in images 3 & 4.

Overall condition is very good and the bowl shows extremely well. The display possibilities are endless as this piece can be filled with a collection of butter stamps and prints, Easter eggs for spring, cookie cutters and even butter paddles. The shallow form is fabulous because you can actually see the collections housed inside from a distance. This rustic piece of treen would be a perfect accent to any table it is placed on filled with interesting pieces you favor! Enjoy!

Bowl measures 13 ¼” across the top (right to left), measures 13 ¼” across the top front to back, stands 3” tall and measures 8 ¾” across the flat bottom area.

~Freight (Standard Mail) included, however Insurance is optional and can be purchased @ checkout ~ within the continental U.S.
