Hide Covered German Horse Pull Toy with Wagon LIGHTS UP

Note: I packed this well making sure the box was not too small which would compromise the safety of the contents.

🎄Just in time for the holidays this spirited hide covered German horse pull toy is seemingly pulling a wagon filled with greens & berries, gifts, a trio of bottle brush trees along with a decorated tree boasting early coverlet stockings. All are included in this unique gathering that even lights up! Both pieces date to the 1910 to 1920’s and are in splendid condition.

This handsome horse shows recessed glass eyes and even retains his mane and tail which is usually not the case, both fashioned from horsehair. He sports an intact felt pad and leather saddle along with felt medallions on his bridle. Hand stitching is evident throughout. His mane does shed a little if you gently pull on it. He also has some hair loss along with a couple small areas of hide missing on the right back leg while the front leg shows a non-invasive crack. There is some glue residue just below his left ear that may have been repaired at one point by a previous owner (as referenced in the last picture of the horse's head). This prancing steed is just amazing well positioned by pegs under his hooves attached to the pull toy base trimmed in black paint. Wheels are all accounted for and move freely. The string used for the pull toy base is missing as noted by the empty hole located in the front. There are some minor chips on the edge of the wooden base.

The wagon sports an open slat feature forming a gentle curve on both sides whereas the front and back location were left open. Front left wheel is painted mustard while the right back wheel (kitty corner) is also the same showing vestiges of crimson red stenciling. Front right wheel and opposite back left wheel are the same color which takes on an oxblood hue. Right back wheel has experienced some very minor separation on the inside near the edge. The dowel was missing from the right back wheel so we repaired it and color matched the paint in lamplight black as shown. All wheels move freely……. exception regarding the front right. Paint loss as well as minor wood loss to the wheel edges.

Trailing greens (right side only) were tucked inside the slat openings on the wagon for a festive holiday look while a tree bearing early coverlet stockings was placed in the back. Three winter white trees also grace the inside and gifts I made using a variety of fabrics add color and cheer to the scene. On a dark winters day or evening hours the tiny lights placed inside having a “plug in” feature will add a soft warm glow to the wagon and contents. Unusual piece that will be the “talk of the town” when guests and family arrive for the holidays and I am sure Santa will take notice too and may reward you with extra gifts! 🎅 My kitty in the last picture wanted to wish all of you a Happy Holiday! Overall height including the base @ the tallest point (head), is 11 ¼” tall, horse by itself stands 9 ¾” @ the tallest point (head), measures 11” from the knee to the end of the tail and measures 2 ½” across his rump. Pull toy base measures 12 ½” across, stands 1 ½” tall and is 3 ¾” deep. Overall height of cart @ the tallest point (tree) is 16 ½”, cart by itself stands almost 9 ½” (middle side section), front opening measures 5 ½” tall, back measures 4 ¾” tall, measures 14 3/4'” front to back, measures 6” across, adding in the trailing greens on the right-side measures 9 ¾” across.
