What a colorful bonnet sporting cheerful yellow and white flowers presented on a crimson red ground. The ruffled attribute near the top sprinkled with a soft lace border lends romantic charm and certainly makes for a great display.
This 1930 to 1940’ textile seems to present whispers of Pennsylvania Dutch flavor because the colors resemble red, white and yellow tulips that religiously pop up here every spring on our Pennsylvania farm. The overall condition is very good with just a few rips in the tie to report as shown in images 18 & 19. This piece has been machine done. I tried to undo the bow so I could iron the tie but found it was stitched directly on the bonnet but managed anyway. There is also a cute pin-tuck area located on the back to gather the excess material as referenced in image 17.
The colors are strong without any evidence of fading. A darling ruffle was added to the top as noted in images 11 & 12 that pleasantly adds another dimension of flavorful charm. There are also a couple pinhead size holes located on the top but are hard to detect.
This delightful bonnet would make a cheerful statement placed on a hat or wig stand in your bedroom perhaps atop a blanket chest with springtime flowers held in a vase nearby or can also be placed on a shaker peg rack to invoke color lending positive results! Enjoy!
Bonnet stands 16 ½” tall including the overhang from the bow in the back, measures 6” front to back at the top and the tie measures 16 ¼” long.
