Hooked 20th Century Rug Farmhouse Scene

#849

Regular price $85.50

Unique hooked rug depicting a farmhouse scene out in the country with a chicken and my best guess is a 1930 “Model A” Ford parked in the driveway. Vivid and strong color with enough exciting whimsy that adds character to the composition.

A chicken takes center stage in the front while beautiful sunflowers embrace the landscape off to the left. A little dependency or outbuilding gently makes its presence known in front of the house by taking up residence off to the left. A peek a boo view of the porch suggests an inviting place providing shelter from the hot sun in the summertime. Of course, it is always a favorite place to make ice cream and watch the firefly’s during the evening hours.

This textile was lovingly worked with wool and the back was lined with cheesecloth bordered by a heavy cotton woven fabric. There are some breaks in the cheesecloth as shown. The four corners of the back also show faint traces of light soiling and can probably be spot cleaned lending positive results. The lower left bottom corner shows one loop that is a little frayed as well as some random areas on the edges.

This nicely executed textile will bring color, whimsy and texture to any wall or can be used on the table as an interesting centerpiece. Enjoy!

Rug measures 26” across by 20” tall.
