Chocolate Mold Heart Design French Marked Dancing Dolphin

#801

Sale price $88.50 Regular price $110.50

If you love collecting hearts this next tempting offering may be a piece you want to call your own. This French chocolate mold sporting twelve hearts delights us showing an intricate ribbed pattern dotted with a center field circle presented on each individual heart. This mold is attributed to the maker “Sommet, E.”, Paris, France 1882-1962. Sommet’s mark was a “dancing dolphin,” reminiscent of a renaissance stylized dolphin and shaped like an “S” as referenced in images 4 & 5.

This unusual mold is not commonly found and is of the smaller variety. It is lightweight and displays beautifully! There are some areas related to the center seam that have a nutmeg brown appearance along with darker tonal browns that appear at random on the front location only.

Areas of gentle wear including evasive scratches are limited to the front. The back lends a pewter cast with small areas that resemble spots which are lighter in color that appear at random. Opposing solder marks are located on the back edges in the middle location as shown in image 7. This piece was stamped with two initials (“GJ”) on the back in the upper left hand corner.

Overall condition is very good without any dents or holes to report. This chocolate mold can be set in a cupboard or balanced on a shelf as there is no hanging hole feature. The surface dictates a soft pewter cast that will fit in nicely with early tin cookie cutter collections….of course related! Enjoy!

Heart mold measures almost 9” across (right to left), measures 3 ¾” tall and is 1/8” thick.
