Antique Breadboard Apple Green Paint with 2 Fabric Apples

#583

Sale price $48.50 Regular price $54.50

This desirable breadboard lends strong apple green paint that even the most discerning buyers will appreciate! The shape appears to be that of an apple but then again there are suggestions of a pear shape as well. Either way this piece certainly has plenty of folk art appeal and would be a unique addition to your existing bread or cutting board collection as shown in image 9.

What I really like about this board is that it is reversible and can be displayed on the other side with the beautiful wood grain showing. The color resembles a rich nutmeg brown lending a whispers of dark areas near the edges. This grand feature adds character and interest to the wood. Chop marks are present on the back (wood area) because after all this board was intended for daily use! There are no cracks or chips to report and this piece is in very good condition.

The surface on this board boasting apple green paint is really spectacular because there are layers present that reflect light and dark hues with traces of oyster white paint as an undercoat referenced in image 2. The sides are painted with a darker Windsor green paint as reflected in images 3 & 4 and add plenty of contrast.

I decided to make a couple fabric apple slices that will accompany this piece. They lend a pop of color and are just the right size. I used real dried apple stems and seeds as well. They are blanket stitched around the edges and have been gently antiqued. The red homespun apple slice has anise as a focal point accented with a red berry in the center.

Breadboards such as this one are not a common find and I was lucky to have acquired it! This piece really displays well whether it be on a table, counter or in front of your breadboard stack. Enjoy!

The apple cutting board measures 10 1/2" at the tallest point from the stem to the bottom, measures 7 1/2" across the widest point (left to right), 3 1/2" across the top (left to right) and is 3/4" thick. The red homespun apple measures 3" tall (including the stem) and 2 1/4" across (left to right). The smaller apple measures 2" tall (including the stem) and 1 3/4" across (left to right).
