This fabulous tin Cheese Strainer was originally made to let the whey drain out of the curds. This piece came from France where it was customary for many to make their own cheese using local farm fresh milk either from a cow, goat or sheep.
When I saw this piece I knew exactly what I was going to use it for and immediately thought of Christmas! The tin punching on the sides and also the bottom would cast soft light through the holes and make a wonderful display for the holidays! I rolled a strand of twenty lights, secured them with wire and laid them at the bottom of the strainer. The cord was draped over the top edge and can be concealed from the back. Greens and pine cones were added for a festive look!
I made the Gingerbread from old cookie cutters and placed two inside the greens. They will last a long time as the recipe I used was not intended for consumption. Two Candy Canes sprinkled with Mica were also tucked into the greens for a touch of color and are reminiscent of the old decorations we find so appealing.
This piece is really a show stopper because it is so unusual! After the holidays are over you can just remove the greens and add something else inside for the current season.

The strainer measures 4" Tall by 5 1/2" across. The Gingerbread Cookie is 3 1/4" Tall by 2 1/2" across the arms. The tree stand 3 1/4" Tall by 2" at the widest point @ the bottom.
