Apple Butter Crock With Lid Dried Vegetables

559

Regular price $65.50

This apple butter crock has an earthy warm nutmeg color and even possess the lid which is not very common as most lids were either broken or misplaced through the years.

This crock sports a nice pronounced bulbous shape and is a great size because it is not too big. A chip located on the edge near the bottom as shown in image 4 & 5 is present. However the back location conceals this area of the crock so it cannot be seen. One spot located near the bottom to the right of the chip did not seem to take the glaze during the firing process and this area is also slightly indented. There are also a couple tiny chips on the outermost rim lip as well as the bottom (see images 7 & 10).

No cracks can be found which is great news! The lid has suffered several mishaps as four chips are visible including a couple small chips on the handle (small round knob) as referenced in images 6 & 8. The lid appears to be unglazed and is also lacking any cracks.

Overall the condition of the crock is good and the color is primitively scrumptious! I fashioned a small hanging garland from dried leather britches, i.e. string beans, a pearl onion and a wee gourd that hangs lazily off the leaf patterned homespun sporting a delicious chocolate brown ground.

If you are looking for an interesting piece of crockery with a special primitive accent this piece may be a great fit to outfit your buttery or pantry with that good olde fashioned farmhouse charm we all adore! Enjoy!

The crock stands 7 1/4" tall, measures 5 1/4" across the top opening and measures 6" across the bottom.
