When I think of Christmas, I think of things that are cozy, warm and bright! Mittens and stockings come to mind and what a wonderful way to show off collections either in old wooden bowls or hung on a cupboard door, Christmas tree, mantle, or even laid on a table! These old crochet stockings are soft, warm and ready to be displayed for the holidays sprinkled with Christmas enchantment!
These socks boast wonderful form and they are just so sweet. The buttermilk color will definitely stand out on dark surfaces and adds a nice focal point that will certainly be noticed! The maker did a very good job creating these little gems as there is open work near the top and also just above the heel area. The pattern reminds me of a waffle weave design and the top of these stockings even have a hint of scalloped edges! See image 6 as I tried to light up all the detail for you.
There are some stains on the front and the back of each stocking, see images 3 & 5 but could possibly be removed with a gentle bath. I have not washed them and the condition is "as found". There are no moth nibbles to report, and no rips are present either. No offensive odors are detectable as well.
I added some preserved cedar, artificial greens and berries plus chocolate brown broom corn that graces the front for a pop of Christmas cheer. These were tied and attached to the sock using old turkey red thread. You can easily remove the greens after the holidays by just cutting the thread if you so desire.
A simple little offering that will lend a festive holiday look to your homestead while providing comfort and warmth to your soul! Enjoy!
The stockings are 8 1/2" Tall, 3 1/2" @ the longest point located at the top and tapers down to about 2 1/4".
