Dry Measure Antique Inspired Gingerbread's Holiday Greens Primitive Christmas

#438

Regular price $58.50

Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice is what you will receive with this next holiday offering that comes filled with special primitive magic! Sweet!

This fabulous dry measure was actually constructed from a mold of an original antique made for the Salem Collection years ago. I purchased several of these at the time as they look, "as right as rain" and the cost is so much more reasonable! This piece is made from resin and has such a realistic appearance that I am sure you will be very pleased with.

Image 3 shows some wear at the bottom near the overlapped edge while image 4 reflects scattered nails on the top and bottom. There is also an area on the bottom where the simulated wood has lifted just a tad. The inside sports a soft marine blue that offers oodles of primitive appeal.

You will receive two gingerbread's, one fashioned from an early quilt boasting cadet blue calico, (not stuffed) and the other was made from a "Moda" nutmeg brown homespun that mimics a brushed flannel and (is stuffed). Both were blanket stitched to finish off the rough edges and I used hole spices to accent the faces that certainly gives them personality! Each is wearing a hand-spun wool muffler to keep them warm on those cold winter days!

I found a muslin bag with a drawstring and decided to paint my own gingerbread recipe on the front accented by a folk art design done on all the sides. This was antiqued to lend a time worn look and graces the left side of this measure lending charming results.

A diminutive Mason Jar, filled with allspice, that has a homespun top was added to this measure in keeping with the theme. Image 16 shows the raised letters at the top that spell out, "Mason" and the glass has a whisper of an aqua color that would also be found in the old Mason jars.

Faux greens with a very pretty color were placed inside and accented with a baby acorn, tallow and red berries along with a couple pieces of cinnamon sticks. Grey moss was used as a filler and the greens were just placed on top.

The last two items I included are a Child's rolling pin and a wooden spoon, both are not old and were painted a soft nutmeg brown. This gathering will warm the heart of your home with all the Christmas enchantment and excitement that is known for this time of year. You can use the measure after the holidays are over and fill with old spoons, tin cookie cutters or even fresh fruit that would make a nice display piece in either in a pantry, buttery or set in a cupboard. Enjoy!

The dry measure stands 5 3/4" Tall, measures 6" across the top and bottom opening & is almost 1/4" thick. The calico blue gingerbread stands 5" tall & measures 4" across @ the widest point which is the arms. The brown homespun gingerbread stands 4 1/2" Tall & measures almost 4" across @ the widest point which is the arms. The Gingerbread Recipe bag measures 4 3/4" Tall & 3" across from left to right. Mason Jar bottle stands 2 3/4" Tall, measures 3/4" across the top & 1" across the bottom. Spoon stands almost 10" tall by 1 3/4" across the bowl, left to right. The Rolling Pin measures 7 3/4" Long & 1" across the pin, left to right.
