German Santa in Sleigh Full of Toys

Unique German Santa with Sleigh full of toys is a lovely piece that is sure to delight holiday collectors. Everything as pictured is included! Santa having a real fur beard and a sassy red coat showing hand painted facial features. He is in a seated position ready for his sleigh ride. Some areas of loss to his face and there is some staining on the right- and left-hand side above his knees. He still retains some holiday greens near his neck.

Sleigh marked Germany on the bottom was fashioned from wood and the side rails were made from twigs.  Sleigh is stuffed with old cotton that acts as a base while elevating the toys inside. A tiny putz horse and cow along with a German (marked at the bottom), colorful house add whimsy to the scene. A bottle brush tree and a silk flag marked “Made in Japan” further accent the inside. Dates to 1930 to 1940’s.

Overall height from sleigh to the tallest point (bottle brush tree) is 4”, sleigh measures 5” long and measures 1 ¾” front to back. Santa stands 2 ½” tall, measures 1” across and is 1 ¼” deep.
