Old Oil Tin Can Graniteware Pan Primitive Harvest Gathering

#527

Regular price $69.95

Looking for something unusual to present on a farmhouse table for autumn that will even carry over into the Thanksgiving holiday….then look no further as this next offering may be a perfect fit for both you and your homestead.

I purchased an old tin oil can locally that was painted black but has whispers of green paint on the bottom and on the handle edge. This bold neutral color acts as a perfect backdrop for autumn botanical "whimsies" placed inside of a muted black and white graniteware pie pan. Gorgeous colors of scarlet, gold, chocolate brown, rust, pumpkin orange with a sprinkling of creamy buttermilk enhance the overall appearance lending a rich autumn palette that is, "Oh so special".

Small Indian and scented beeswax corn, magnolia pods, broom corn, and pods filled with wee pumpkins and acorns are some of the accents used to create this gathering. The oil can has a small dent on the side located in the middle area as reflected in image 4. However, overall condition is still good. The form is just wonderful as the spout is small and there are two handles present, one used to carry and the other to aid in pouring. The top cannot be removed without a fight and I decided to give in. If you look at image 3 & 4 you can see a slight bend on the bottom edge of the thick tin handle. There are no holes or creases to report.

The speckled pie pan with a dark grey ground is a "perfect marriage" as the oil can comfortably rests inside. There are a couple small chips on the outside rim and a couple more inside along the outside edge. The color beneath the chips is black therefore these areas are hard to pinpoint which is a plus. The 3/8" edge on this pan adds character and creates a hint of texture to the overall look.

This is a fun gathering that will enhance any table with primitive charm while paying special attention to the brilliant harvest colors we all highly favor. Enjoy!

The oil can measures almost 12" tall including the wire handle, (9 1/2" tall when the handle is in the down position), the opening is 1 1/8" across the top and the bottom measures 5 1/4". Graniteware Pie Pan measures 9 1/2" across the top (edge to edge) and the top opening itself is 8 1/2", and the bottom measures 7". The corn varies in size and measures 5" to 3" tall, magnolia pods are 5" to 3" tall, broom corn sprays measure 10" tall while the other spray is 7" tall, and the acorns are about 3/4".
