Amish Rabbit Handmade Basket Easter Gathering

🐇Delightful Amish rabbit has decided to take up residence in a signed and dated handcrafted basket filled with fabric carrots, acorns, cotton boils, pine cones and accent greens that are all included in this festive Easter gathering. Amish rabbit appears to be rag stuffed and completely hand stitched using “lilliputian” tiny stitches having stationary applied ears and a cotton tail. Exact age unknown. Not too much wear to speak of and the fabric is not soiled. Slight wear on the bottom including a trio of fabric pulls along with hand stitching to close the opening where the rabbit was stuffed. Darling face along with over stuffed ears lends a folksy appearance.

Handmade basket is signed, “MMF” and dated “1994” on the bottom as shown. Interesting tight dovetailed joints on opposing sides that support the bottom piece of wood add character. Nicely done showing wide weavers that exhibit a warm patinaed surface. Handle shows an interlocking decorative design. All weavers are accounted for.

Basket was filled with Prairie grass to gain height for the items placed inside. 🥕I fashioned the carrots (graduated in size), using a variety of calico fabrics and added spring moss at the top.

Perfect for an Easter display that will create a festive spring theme to any room of your choosing. You can set the basket on a breadboard to ground it and sprinkle colorful eggs around the base along with votive electrified candles that would make for a spectacular presentation. Enjoy!

Basket stands 8” tall including the handle, basket itself stands 4” tall, measures 7” across (right to left) and measures 6 ½” front to back. Bottom measures 6 ½” across (right to left) and measures 6” front to back. Amish rabbit stands 2 ¾” to the top of his ears, measures 5 ¾” from his nose to his tail and measures 3” across the bottom @ the widest point (back legs). Tallest carrot stands 8 ¼” tall.
