A quintessential peek into an earlier time where women gather inside a period home to create a beautiful textile that will find its place on the bed come winter. Refreshments are served and “dishing the dirt” spoken in soft voices seem to hold everyone’s attention.
This oil painting has a naïve quality brought forth by the artist and is signed. However the signature is illegible (lower right corner). Overall good condition and most likely dates to the early 20th century.
Some expected crazing along with minor paint loss that reveals the underlying canvas as shown (see backlit image 5). Some white residue possibly from paint is present on the back lower portion of the frame. Mounted in a deep canted frame. One area (upper top right) shows some minor wood loss. Delightful subject that tells a story and does make for a showy display.
Overall measurements including the frame are 20 ¾” across, stands 14 ½” tall and is almost 2” deep.
~Freight (Standard Mail) included, however Insurance is optional and can be purchased @ checkout ~ within the continental U.S.
