Shoo Fly Screen Breadboard Holiday Mouse

What’s going on here? Well, apparently a wee mouse has found his way past the shoo fly screen and is having the time of his life gorging on a piece of cheese this Christmas Eve. It was indeed Santa’s doing as he brought the little mouse this delicious gift! Everyone is tucked in their snug little beds so nobody knows the wiser! Now all the mouse needs is a loving home for the holidays and you don’t even need to feed him because he is bringing his own cheese!

This gathering includes a breadboard, shoo fly screen, blackened beeswax mouse and cheese. As a gift I am including the cinnamon sticks and snow white tallow berries only because I can’t guarantee how the real cranberries and fresh boxwood would survive the trip.

Breadboard exhibits interesting dark variations in the wood and has a round edge. No chips are present but there is one area on the top that shows a bit of lifting in the wood. Light patina is grand and this piece is not only thick but made well.

Early Shoo fly screen is in good condition without any holes to report. The form is great and has just a spec of “out of round” proportions located near the lifter knob. Screen is intact and secured by a bottom wire band.

Beeswax cheese has a hint of green and is aged to perfection. Accented with greens and wrapped peppermint yarn it is all decked out for the holidays. Blackened beeswax mouse wears matching yarn around his neck and is busy guarding his cheese. This whimsical scene will certainly bring laughter and entertainment presented at your holiday table. Overall height from the top of the shoo fly to the base of the board measures 6 1/2” tall, Breadboard measures 11 1/2” across the top, measures 11 ¼” across the bottom and is ¾” tall. Cheese stands 1 ½” tall, measures 2 ½” @ the widest point (back), measures ¾” across the front (point) and measures 3” front to back. Mouse stands ½” tall and measures 2 ¾” from nose to tail.
