This wonderful folksy hooked rug came from an old home in Warrenton, Virginia (Fauquier County). It measures 23" wide by 37 1/2" long and depicts an old house, trees, and outbuildings. Hand hooked on burlap, it is predominately in beautiful shades of brown and green with a lighter cream and brown sky and a dark brown border. There is a 2"x 3" patch on the back and a couple of small holes in the backing as well as some wear to the burlap along the edge. The front of the rug is in very good condition, with a bit of age related wear evident but no holes or tears and no musty odors. Estimate of age -- 75 to 100 years old.
This rug has great folk art appeal and would be beautiful mounted and hung on a wall and would certainly add warmth and character to any home.
