Old Tart Tin Handmade Starburst Pattern Neat

#282

Regular price $49.50

With Autumn fast approaching, one of the things that comes to mind is colder weather that seems to promote more cooking and baking in our cozy warm kitchens. This next offering is not only appropriate for these chilly days but makes a great primitive display as well especially in the evening as the candles and wee pumpkins are included!

I have had this tin in my collection for years and I purchased it because it was a hand ~ made piece that lends nice craftsmanship and ingenuity by the maker! I would date this around turn of the century to the 30's. There are no signs of solder on this tin. Instead the maker overlapped the sides of the tins and used a small rivet to attach the molds together. The same holds true for the handle. This wonderful tin is in good condition and has a slightly shiny surface on the inside mixed with some dark, almost pewter colored areas present throughout.

The outside of the tin is a little darker in color and also has the same dark markings. One of the tins on the upper or lower outside corner depending on which way you decide to position it, has a small crease on the outside edge as referenced in images 17 & 18. The outside edges of each tin overlap onto a metal rod. Very neatly done! There are a total of twelve wells, bakers dozen so to speak, that comprise this baking tin.

This quite possibly, one of a kind tart tin is very unique and looks awesome hung on a wall too. I staged this with four fat nubbie candles in a wonderful chocolate brown color and used wee pumpkins to fill up the wells around each candle to add color and interest. This offers versatility for decorating as this tin can either be placed on a table dressed for autumn lit, casting soft shadows on pumpkins and gourds sprinkled with colorful leaves or hung on a wall.

This unique tart tin not only boasts wonderful craftsmanship by the maker but is a truly marvelous piece to own. ~Warning~ your other collections may become jealous! Enjoy!

The measurements are 13" across (includes both handle measurements), 11 1/2" across (without the handle measurements), 8 1/2" Deep & Stands approximately 1" Tall. ~Note~ This piece is rather lightweight, not heavy like some of the cast iron molds.

~Freight (Standard Mail) included, however Insurance is optional and can be purchased @ checkout ~ within the continental U.S.
