Old Wool Lap Blanket Hand Woven Red White and Blue
The next offering available is in tribute to my grandfather as he would have been over 100 years old come this fourth of July! This beautiful hand ~ loomed lap blanket graces his Windsor comb back style chair that I consider one of my prized possessions. This chair calls to me in a soft whisper that adoringly speaks my name and I can't help but feel good every time I pass by. This was his favorite chair and I remember how he used to rock for hours with both hands strongly positioned over the carved knuckles while conversation took place.
I was able to find this fabulous lap blanket at market recently and was surprisingly pleased to find a tag that reads, "Hand Woven by Florence Johnson" on the inside. The colors are so warm and inviting sporting a midnight and cornflower blue, cranberry and buttermilk that blend so well together it is almost like a match made in heaven! The texture is soft, not at all scratchy like most wool's, and this would also make a great table runner for the holidays! I just love wool runners on the table as they lend so much texture and warmth!
There are little nubs of wool sprinkled randomly throughout and this is a very common occurrence when wool is laundered. This beauty is in great condition as there are no moth nibbles, holes, rips, tears or stains to report. The lap blanket does not have any offensive odors either! The fringe is intact however there are some larger nubs stuck to it but can be easily removed by carefully cutting them away from the fringe. The colors are strong and I do not see any fading.
This hand loomed treasure will bring warmth on a cold rainy day while adding wonderful color and softness to your primitive homestead! Enjoy!
Measurements are 55" Long including the fringe by 26" Wide. The fringe is about 3 1/2" Long.
