Typical of the rural Pennsylvania landscape depicting an early farmhouse out in the country during the winter season this wonderful painting will bring a touch of nostalgia into your home for the holidays and beyond. Painting is framed but no glass is present. The original photograph of this house is also included and the artist “Willey” did a great job when she created this commissioned painting in the year of “2001” upon request of the owners.
This vernacular home possesses all the appropriate Dutch colors consisting of barn red trim against an ochre ground. A smaller stone building appears in the front and may give us a clue where this house actually is possibly in the Bucks country area where stone homes were prevalent back in the day because of the availability. Deciduous trees flank the home and offer plenty of brilliant color in the fall. Two welcoming benches located near the front offer a sense of hospitality while a split rail fence acts as a border.
The two-toned frame is a perfect choice for the painting accenting the importance of the paintings sight. A light “craquelure” appearance can be found on the right where the darkest tree is located as shown. Some minor age-related surface wear to the paint located above the house is inconsequential. There are no rips in the canvas or stains to report.
Frame has some minor paint loss as shown in the darkest black area. “Fredrix” is marked by way of incising on the back and may be the maker of the frame. Lovely painting that can be displayed all through the winter months either hung or set on a table leaning up against the wall. Enjoy!
Measures 23 ½” across, measures 19 ½” tall and is 1” deep.
