The Clipper Advertising Sign

#1003

Regular price $115.50

Unique and rare stenciled sign entitled "The Clipper" that was saved from a piece of farm equipment and mounted. The hand-crank operated seed and grain cleaner/separator was invented in Ohio by John E. Smith around l860. In 1891 he sold controlling interest to A.T. Ferrel, who moved manufacturing to Saginaw, Michigan. Most old farms had a "Clipper" as electricity was often not supplied to many rural areas until the 1940's. The earlier models sported pin-striping detail on some of the painted surfaces as this piece does.

Age-related wear and a 2 3/4" long crack on the left side. Several scrapes across the paint and a light whitewash spray randomly sprinkled throughout. Neat piece in desirable red paint that is ready to hang by way of twisted wire in the back.

Measures 21" long, 8 1/2" high and is 1 7/8" thick.

~Freight (Standard Mail) included, however Insurance is optional and can be purchased @ checkout ~ within the continental U.S.
