Compote Dressed in Autumn Attire

Vintage wooden turned, compote favoring walnut wood, filled with autumn pleasantries seeks to reside on a table that would offer a spectacular focal point especially during the Thanksgiving holiday. Contents is included so this piece can be set out and enjoyed as soon as you receive it.

A delightful array of corn cobs wrapped in burlap tied with broom corn as well as a dried paint dotted orange, nuts, pinecones, autumn maple leaves, a seeding starter pot filled with a piece of garlic yarn wrapped to simulate a pumpkin and a lone apple grace the front. A wax battery-operated candle (batteries included) takes center stage by casting soft light on the contents while a pear, magnolia pods and a single gourd fill the backside. I incorporated a late 19th century flatback cookie cutter sporting a crow design standing in a seedling starter pot filled with excelsior that lends whimsey to the scene.

Compote having a turned pedestal and base displays interesting and stylized form. Some surface wear but free of chips and cracks. Good condition overall including the inside and on the bottom base (not shown). The top bowl gently curves inward to protect the contents from falling out. Beautiful rich patina is another nice attribute.

This compote is extremely versatile and will carry each holiday as the contents can be changed out easily. A collection of old cookie cutters as well as butter prints would also constitute a great display for year-round decorating. Enjoy!

Overall height 14” tall with contents, compote itself stands 10” tall, measures 12” across and measures almost 8” across the base.
