🎄Outstanding relief carved woodland Santa was my inspiration to create a forest scene using a live edge base that was cut from one of our downed trees here on our farm. You will receive everything as pictured so this gathering can be displayed in your home as soon as it is received. All of these items can be removed as nothing was glued in place.
Santa is holding a tree and has a bag positioned in the back seemingly full of lovely toys. The detail is stunning as you can see each piece of strand in his beard along with intricate carving relayed throughout. His coat is accented with snowflakes along with scroll work shown on the bottom border.
There are two sections, one on the bottom quarter that meets the rest of the piece at a three-quarter interval. Two holes are present on the bottom location that may have been used to hold the wood in place so it was easier to carve. A half circle of moss accented with pine cones was placed at the base. Santa is in very good condition without any cracks or chips to report. The graining especially on the bag is yet another nice attribute. Age is unknown.
Santa has a deer family that came to visit and they are in their element surrounded by bottle brush trees (two are painted). The recumbent baby decided to take a rest after their long journey to see Santa. A soft layer of raw cotton was placed under the family to act as snow. A grape vine tendril was used as a post to support the large glitter snowflake placed above that is also removeable.
This piece can be set out during the winter months as well if you so choose but I feel it does have an extended life span for display after the holidays are over. Peaceful, quiet and natural….this gathering allows a peek at the outdoors to be enjoyed inside our warm homes.
Overall height @ the tallest point (to the top of the snowflake) is 8 ¼” tall. Santa stands 5 ¾” tall, base measures2 ¾” across and measures 3 ½” seep (front his hand to the edge of the back bag). Trees vary in size, the two tallest stand 5” tall, medium stand 2 ½” tall and the smallest stands 1 ¾” tall. Live wood edge (acting as a base) measures 21 ½” across (right to left), stands 1 ¼” tall and is 6 ¾” deep (front to back).
