Early Document Box Book and Decorated Tree

Diminutive document box dating from1780 ~ 1820 showing an abraded surface in paint with applied molding and a hinged lid. Book and decorated tree are also included and together they create a handsome holiday display offered with free shipping. Document box showing several layers of exposed paint that includes white, mustard, green and brown. Small T-head nails were used when constructing. Inside and bottom areas are not painted as shown. Box is in overall good condition less expected paint loss along with edge cracks.

”Noble Events of the 19th Century”, published in New York, dated “1896” having a cloth cover in squash green while the spine has twin bands in crimson along with a floral design. There is an area on the second end page that shows a cluster of holes at the top left-hand corner. The pages have separated from the spine but are intact and not loose. Some fading has occurred on the front bottom cover otherwise in good condition.

A contemporary tree sitting in a log base was decorated with tiny individually cut stockings from an early coverlet and hand tied using red thread to each branch. Both items offer a nice holiday presentation to this document box that is small enough to place anywhere of your choosing. Enjoy!

Document box measures 10 ½” across, stands 3 ½” tall and measures 7 ¾” deep. Book stands 6” tall, measures 4 ¼” across and is ¾” thick. Tree stands 8 ½” tall, measures 5 ½” @ the widest point (across the bottom branches) and the base 2 ½” across the bottom.
