At first glance this piece of redware has all the earmarks of a 19th century example showing splotches of black manganese decoration as well as nice form. The truth is this piece of redware pottery actually was made in the year of “1998” attributed to “Christopher Woods” as noted on the bottom. Festive holiday contents as pictured is included.

I was not sure who the artist “Christopher Woods” was and upon research I found he was affiliated with “Turtle Creek Pottery” and later teamed up with “David T Smith Workshops”. Why this illusive piece makes no mention of either company is unknown. There is also a cute and humorous note written on the bottom along with the date and signature that reads, “Give Beautiful A Home”!....and I am sure this wonderful piece will soon reside in a delightful one.

There are whispers of crazing at random throughout as well as some ceramic colorant and glaze loss located on the top edge and shoulder that may have been done intentionally to mimic an old piece. There are also some tiny chips present on the top rim. Overall condition is good without any cracks to report and makes for a nice display.

This storage jar is versatile as the contents can be removed and refreshed for every season. Perfect addition to your existing redware collection as well. Enjoy!

Overall height including greens is 14 ¾” tall, jar by itself stands 7” tall, top opening measures 4 ½” across, and measures 4 ¾” across the bottom.

~Freight (Standard Mail) included, however Insurance is optional and can be purchased @ checkout ~ within the continental U.S.
