🐇Unique Easter offering lending a woodland theme is sure to enchant your guests and family for this special holiday. A cloth printed rabbit oversees her surroundings set in a brown graniteware pail that includes handmade calico carrots, gourd eggs, pinecones, acorns and wispy ferns nestled amongst prairie grass. This festive arrangement is ready to set out immediately so it can be enjoyed.
Cloth rabbit sports strong lovely earth tone hues and her sweet face along with tucked in paws lends plenty of personality. This piece is an offshoot of the “Arnold Print Works” rabbit made in the last quarter of the 19th century. “The Toy Works”, founded by John Gunther in 1974 on Fiddler's Elbow Road in Middle Falls (near Greenwich), NY, was a renowned manufacturer of printed cloth toys and later home furnishings, operating the business for 47 years. They were known for high-quality rendition animals that were printed, stuffed, and sewn. Tag is located on the right side of the rabbit.
Rabbit is in great condition without any holes, stains or rips to report.
Graniteware or speckle ware pail showing white spots against a rich chocolate hue, dates from the turn of the century to “1930”. There are areas of enamel loss on the rim, inside near the top and also on the back near the bottom as shown. Two round white marks on the bottom are also visible as noted. No holes to report. Inside not shown is in good condition. Wire handle is intact but shows some old oxidation.
Two carrots I fashioned from earthy calico fabrics reside in the front. As mentioned above acorns, pinecones, etc. were added to create a woodland theme. Would make a wonderful centerpiece for your holiday table, can be set in a cupboard or on a side table with easter eggs displayed nearby. Enjoy!
Overall height 13” including the rabbit, pail stands 6” tall, measures 7 ¾” across the top and bottom. Rabbit stands 10 ¼” tall, measures 1 ¾” across his head and measures 3 ½” across the bottom and is 2 ½” thick. Brown carrot is 10 ½” tall while the other carrot measures 7 ¼” tall.
