Gleaming ironstone small tureen filled with black walnuts is a perfect autumn accessory whether it is presented on the table or tucked in a cozy cupboard. The low relief wheat pattern mixed in with a foliate design gestures the autumn season when the harvest is brought in. Crisp white ironstone pieces lend a neutral color that often suggests woodenware accents mixed in for a fantastic look.
This piece dates to the 1910-20 era and is in good overall condition. It is marked on the back, “Ironstone China, Royal Pottery, Staffordshire, Wilkinson LTD England”. Gentle crazing throughout adds character to the overall look. A tiny chip is located on the edge of the footed base. However there are no cracks or other chips present. The inside sports a tonal light brown hue along with a couple other areas located on the outside near the footed base which is a common occourance for pieces this old.
You will also receive the excelsior used as filler, black walnuts from our farm, a small gourd dipper spoon filled with cloves and a bundle of corn shucks. This tureen can also be placed on a small breadboard with clusters of Indian corn surrounding the base as well as wee pumpkins. Enjoy!
