Unique trammel sporting a heart finial along with a four arm candleholder is quite a showy piece and will instantly add early charm in your home. Both pieces were forged and done by a skilled smith. I purchased these items together but they may be a marriage. Even though they date to around the mid-20th century it is very hard to tell because of the form and hand forged appearance.

There is an interesting feature regarding the 4 arm candleholder regarding the hanging loop but the curved feet suggest this piece could also be set on a flat surface. Candle sockets and drip pans were fashioned from brass. However the rest of the holder was wrought joined by rivets.

Green (verdigris patina) relating to the candle drip pans are apparent. The end of the loop referencing the candleholder mimics the faceted counterweight on a rush light (see images 35 & 36). Also the ball is positioned between the end of the candleholder connecting the base. There are two small areas on the arm that show red lines and is also present on the shaft (images 32 & 33). The shaft was most likely peened to the base. Very Good condition!

The trammel having a folksy heart finial, rat tail end and a single twist below the hook makes for a decorative piece. There is a small area showing white paint on the heart referencing image 21. Very good condition! Quite impressive when hung together and is much more affordable than the early examples!

Candle Holder stands 18 ½” tall, measures 12” from end of candle drip pan to opposing drip pan and the feet measure 8 ½” across (right to left and front to back). Trammel full extension is 29 ¼”. Arm measures 5” across and graduated sawtooth measures 1 1/2 (top and graduates down to) 1”.

~Freight (Standard Mail) included, however Insurance is optional and can be purchased @ checkout ~ within the continental U.S.
