Draahlus Rolling Pin Pennsylvania Dutch

Hard to find mixed woods Pennsylvania Dutch, double handled rolling pin dating from the1850 ~ 1875 era. The pin is fashioned from maple while the other wood elements are of the butternut wood variety. Hand cut nails were used on the front side locations while the twin handles were doweled in place on the carved left and right hand side pieces. The double handle feature provided more comfort for the baker and allowed for an even rolling of the dough.

Triplicate scribe marks on both handles in the center add detail. The top handle is slightly deeper in color than the counterpart bottom. There is a dark line on the pin as shown which is a natural occourance in wood comprised of maple. The bottom side ends do show wear from being in contact with the surface it was placed on.

Some chips are present located on the bottom of the side pieces and also limited to the end of the top dowel (right hand side). There are also tight age related cracks on the side ends as well. Condition is still very good considering the age and this pin shows well! Perfect addition to your kitchenware collection!

Stands 6 ¼” tall, measures 11” across and measures 1 ½” deep (front to back to location) and measures 2 ½” deep (front to back bottom location).
