From time to time I am able to find wonderful paintings that depict seasonal themes that I reproduce enhanced by an accented frame. These pictures are just a delight as they are small enough to fit just about anywhere, are inexpensive and capture each season lending a slight folk art appearance.
This beautiful nature scene captures a crow resting on a corn stalk out in the field just before the harvest season. He was fortunate enough to help himself by eating the delectable sweet kernels before the harvest was brought in. It is a gorgeous day and his black feathers shine brightly in the sun without a cloud in sight.
I backed the picture with warm and natural cotton while harvest gold burlap was placed underneath. Old tacks were used as a decorative touch gracing all four corners and the custom frame was fashioned from lath lending a red wash hue. The top horizontal batten on the backside near the top acts as a landing spot for the nail so it can be hung if you so choose.
Dried corn husks as well as two pods with a pumpkin inside were added for a decorative touch while the wispy branches on the left tie in the nature theme. This vibrant picture is such a delight as it is perfect for autumn decorating that can grace either a cupboard shelf or a wall lending charming results! Enjoy!
Picture stands 11 ¾” tall, measures almost 9 ¾” across (right to left) and is an 1” deep including the corn shucks tied to the front.
