Early Hanging Wall Box Root Cellar Decorating

#960

Regular price $159.50

Late 18th to early 19th century hanging wall box with a “make-do” repair showing the best patina is really a special piece. I filled this piece with earthy root cellar provisions as a decorating suggestion and are not included.

A nice mix of forged nails including "Rose head" contest to the early date. Nice simple form showing a gentle curved back. Bottom has been replaced at one point as the wood does not match the existing sides, back and front. This piece could have been used to store salt usually placed by the hearth to aid in keeping it dry. As a result the bottom may have been negatively affected and therefore replaced.

There are also visual indications that refer to some sort of putty that was applied near the bottom edges used as a filler. Cracks as well as some wood loss are age related. Great decorating possibilities await a creative buyer!

Measures 12” across, measures 6 ¾” tall (including the back), almost 3 ½” tall (front) and measures 5 ¾” deep.

~Freight (Standard Mail) included, however Insurance is optional and can be purchased @ checkout ~ within the continental U.S.
