Halloween Lantern Onion Glass Globe Enchanting

Welcome to the world of enchantment as this mystical lantern will certainly be a focal point wherever it is placed and promises to deliver “spooktacular” results in your home. A 20th century lantern was my inspiration to create this gathering and I started by painting it midnight black. (The before images are pictured at the end of the photo gallery.) Fabric eyes and a mouth (removeable) were added to breath personality into a folksy Jack-O-Lantern using the onion glass globe as a base. His wide brimmed hat landed further opportunity to add moss, a chenille cat along with a pumpkin filled with twigs and grain along with faux flowers that graces the hat base.

A lone crow sits on top of a moss and leaf covered Styrofoam base that adds interest to the right side and is removeable. Two holiday candy canes tied with black ribbon set on the left offer another fun decoration. The faux flowers are attentive as far as lending a hand to balance the candy canes and are removeable. I fashioned the base (festoon) from a thick piece of cardboard and wrapped it with black fabric on the front and bottom location. Crepe paper lending an orange hue along with a colorful festoon were layered on the front edge and acts as a base for the lantern.

The candleholder is independent from the lantern sporting a tabbed over feature to secure the candle cup to the base. It is a little fussy as far as getting it just right into the lantern opening but will comply. **Note: Candle is included!

This one-of-a-kind lantern can also be used for holiday decorating too as the festoon and accessories can be removed as well as the face. Greens and berries can be incorporated at the bottom while a small Santa or putz sheep can be added to the brim of the hat surrounded by an array or greens, cranberries, anise and bottle brush trees. Overall height 15 ¼” tall, Lantern is 15” tall to the top of the circular hanger, measures 7” across the brim of the hat (edge to edge), measures 7” across the bottom and is 7” deep @ the widest point (brim of hat). Candleholder including candle stands 5 ¾” tall, measures 4 ¼” across the top and bottom. Crow on moss base stands 4 ½” @ the tallest point (head), measures 4” across including protruding leaves, and is 3” deep. Festoon measures 11 ¼” across top and bottom location. Halloween chenille cat stands 4 ½” tall including the hanger and measures 2 ¼” across @ the widest point (left arm to closed arm).
