Mortar Pestle Hourglass Shape Neat

#781

Regular price $65.50

Mortar and pestles that sport an hourglass shape possess a slender form compared to their chunky cousins. I decided to add a little holiday cheer by way of using candy cane yarn tied in the front as well as placing greens and berries in the top opening. The yarn can be removed after the holidays as well as the greens and berries.

This piece is in good overall condition with consistent wear sprinkled throughout. The pronounced curved rim lip located at the top is a great design feature that lends importance to the overall look. A crushed walnut hue surface gives way to a semi dry attic appearance…the best of both worlds! There are several very small tight hairline cracks on the top and bottom protruding edges but are hard to detect. A couple tiny surface scratches are also present on the body.

The pestle is original to the mortar and also has great form. It has more than several tight hairline cracks that run in a vertical position near the handle and close to the bottom area as well. The cute mushroom shaped knob is delicate in form but effectively conveys a simple design element.

The bottom of the mortar does exhibit wear but consistently retains the patina that is exhibited throughout this piece. The size is perfect for a cupboard shelf or can be placed on the kitchen counter and will certainly clear any hanging cabinets without an argument from the frustrated “huswife”! This particular shape is not commonly found so don’t hesitate if you favor this piece to call your own! Enjoy!

Overall height is 8” tall including the pestle, mortar alone stands 5 ¾” tall, measures 3 ¾” across the top opening and measures almost 3 ½” across the bottom. Pestle stands 5 ½” tall, measures ¾” across the mushroom knob and measures 1” across @ the widest point near the bottom area.
