Antique Wall Half Basket Christmas Greens Snowman with Feather Tree

Wall baskets are such a great item to either hang on a Shaker Peg or on a door! They are actually getting harder to find but as luck would have it I recently acquired this one and was just thrilled I could present this to you for the holidays!

This antique wall basket is a great size because it is not too big and would grace a door with ease. I filled the opening with some artificial Christmas greens, an aged chenille candy cane, fresh rose hips, Sweet Annie, a Magnolia Pod, Ornamental Poppies, a hanging stub candle and a hand ~ made snowman that is just thrilled with his surroundings!

The basket has a warm light nutmeg color that only time can lend and the form is wonderful because the back slowly graduates down to the front! There are some breaks in the splint, on the front and on the back as shown in images 4, 5 & 12. Some of the woven splint is missing as shown in image 6 and the larger splint (four pieces), does come away from the outside edge of the basket. There are also other areas where the splint has disappeared on the front, near the top edge. Overall this basket is still in fairly good condition and has a thick wooden sturdy handle.

I made this little snowman and thought it would be an appropriate fit with this outdoor theme of forest style greens. He is fashioned from warm and natural fabric that has been aged. The feather tree was hand~stitched on the front while the twig arms give him so much character. A wool muffler keeps him warm and he is just as sweet as can be!

This offering will bring gaiety to your homestead for the holidays and will be a very special focal point in any cozy area of your choosing. You can remove the greens and fill with other items such as gourds and nests for spring or would even be a perfect spot to display your whisk broom collections! Don't forget the little Child's stockings that can also be draped over the front anytime! Sweet! The basket measures 9" across, 9" Tall including the handle measurement, (4 1/2" Tall without the handle measurement), 4" from front to back.
