Breadboards are ever so popular and have become such an integral part of primitive decorating. I think the reason is because they come in different shapes and sizes and are available in pleasing array of colors varying from light, medium to a rich dark patina. This next offering should peak your interest as it has a lollipop handle that is not commonly found and would be a perfect addition to your growing collection!
This 19th century breadboard has just the right amount of wear with plenty of chop marks and boasts a warm medium patina that resembles a soft nutmeg color as shown in images 1 & 2. I did another shoot of this board, front and back, with more light so you can see the detail of the chop marks as well as the great surface wear shown in images 3 & 4. There is an appropriate age related character crack present on the front and back side of this board. However the strength is in no way compromised as this is a heavy piece of treen carved out of a single board.
The lollipop handle has a small piece of wood missing at the very top of the round handle as shown in image 6 but this happened long ago as the patina healed this area quite well. The front of the board does have an area off the left, near the upper corner, that is a little rough with some minor surface wood loss. The back of the board also has random areas of dark surface wear that resembles a charcoal color. This board is very think as shown in image 11 and the side of the handle referenced in image 7 has beautiful wear with dark striations present. Overall condition is very good!
This special breadboard can also be hung as there is a hole located at the top and would look nice on any wall of your choosing. The autumn prairie flowers are also included so you hang them from the front to enjoy this glorious season. Just a wonderful piece of treen that I know you will absolutely adore! Enjoy!
The breadboard measures almost 14" tall including the handle measurement, 9" Tall without the handle, 8" across & is 2" thick!
