Egg Basket Print Handmade Chicken Nesting Box

Even though some of us may not live on a farm this actually does not mean that you can’t decorate your home with fresh, farm flavor that lends a warm country look. This next offering is very unique and would create instant farmhouse charm wherever it is placed!

I was able to find a wonderful print, framed, under glass that boasts a beautiful buttocks basket filled with eggs just gathered from the hen house. This print is signed by, “Kate Orris” who is a folk artist here in Pennsylvania. Even though this piece is not dated I found other prints she created in “1990”. Kate is a very talented lady and her painting is very detailed with delightful folk art accents, in this case hearts, done in three rows near the bottom of the basket.

This print is in good condition with strong color. The glass may need a little freshening up inside and this can be done by removing the metal tabs located on the back that will allow access to the glass.

The frame has luscious colors of classic barn red with a black sponging technique located on all of the sides. This impressive design makes the basket still life scene really stand out while lending a primitive and folksy look. The glass protecting this print is in very good condition. The frame does have several tiny spots which are lighter in color, please refer to frame images for more detail. There is also a very tiny chip located on the inside of the frame on the left hand side as shown in image 9.

I felt this piece needed something extra special to tie in the theme so Harry created a wonderful nesting box that hangs from the top left area of the frame using old materials. Tiny hand fashioned eggs grace the inside resting on green excelsior fit for a king so to speak! A woven basket with dried rose hips and tan berries tucked inside graces the right hand side of the frame.

This one of a kind offering will lend plenty of farmhouse character to your home and who knows…a warm early morning breeze entering the room by way of an open window may even bring in the sweet scent of hay. A vocal rooster’s wake up call will surely follow! Enjoy!

Picture measures 11 ¾” by 11 ¾” square and the frame is ¾” thick. Chicken Nesting Box stands a little over 2” tall, measures 4 ¼” across the front and is 1 ½” deep. Wire hanger for the box stands 3 ½” tall by 1 ¾” across the front. Small woven basket stands 1 ¾” tall and measures 1 ½” across the top. Overall size with the wire hanger for this basket is 3 ¼” tall.
