Old Flew Cover with Harvest Cornstalks and Pumpkin Scene
What a creative idea to add an Autumn print on this old flew cover that depicts a Fall landscape scene with wispy cornstalks and pumpkins!
This cover sports a squash green color that is very subtle and effectively surrounds this Autumn scene splendidly. There are small scratches on the front of the cover as well as the back however they do not detract from the overall look. Whispers of rust appear on the back inside circle rim with a couple marks on the front edge near the top.
There is a wire ring on the back that acts like a stand so this piece can easily be positioned at will. "Patented June 10..." and I can't make out the year, is incised on the back of this cover.
It appears that someone took a print done on thick paper with this bucolic Fall scene and attached it to the center inside circle. There is a mark on the bottom that reads, "No. 66". This print is in good condition with minimal surface wear and boasts a watercolor style of painting. There are a couple of small scratches and tiny spots on the print that reveal minimal color loss.
This piece would look nice on a side table with pumpkins sprinkled about or would also be a neat addition to a country cupboard filled with bittersweet. Either way, this unusual re-purposed flew cover will bring Fall charm to your homestead without delay! Enjoy!
Cover itself measures 7 3/4" diameter and (8 3/4" diameter including the wire holder.
