This sweet little sampler measures about 8" x 9 1/2" (framed size) and 5 1/4" x 6 3/4" (sight size). The first 4 lines contain the alphabet and the last line shows numbers 1 through 8. The last two characters on line 4 seem to be initials P.M. are most likely are the initials of the maker. There is some loss to the thread or yarn especially near the corners of the border on the left side and at the end of line 4 (under the initial M) and on the bottom line (number 1). This little marking sampler is the perfect size to tuck into a gathering or in any little space that needs a bit of color and charm. The frame is late 19th century and in good condition. The sampler is not dated but it is consistent with others of the late 19th or early 20th century.
