This beautiful mid-19th century pantry box having vibrant paint with later stenciled floral and foliate decoration implementing a soft mustard gold and warm bittersweet hues is such a great piece to own. If you like decorated pieces this example should make your heart skip a beat not to mention the stunning colors!
The black paint on the cover is a perfect backdrop for the exciting colors in the leaves and flowers which is the focal point. The bottom paint excites us with a beautiful shade of red touched by whispers of the past that include signs of wear in the paint.
There is some wood loss limited to the front bottom edge as well as an open hole where a nail used to reside. Some helper nails were added along the way so this piece could continue use through the years. There is also slight separation on the bottom as referenced in image 19.
This pantry continues to delight us with colorful accents that would be a perfect addition to a shelf or can be placed at the top of a stack! Enjoy!
It is of the smaller variety measuring 6 ½” across and stands 2 ½” tall.
