Primitive old Wooden Bowl with Cloved Oranges and Christmas Greens

I ask you, what country kitchen would not adore to have this primitive bowl filled with greens and cloved oranges reside in the pantry or on a scrub top table? This simple gathering not only looks awesome but smells good too!

I chose this bowl to accompany the oranges because it has an unusual deep shape. The wear on this piece could not be better and the two age cracks, one larger as referenced in images 5 & 9, one smaller as shown in images 6 & 10, really add so much character to the bowl. Both of these cracks are not recent because they have a dark color that is visible inside this area. These cracks do show through on the inside as well. The bottom and some areas on the outside have a dry attic finish while the rest of the bowl sports a warm nutmeg hue. You can actually see the circular pattern created by the tree in the bottom inside center as well as on the outside surface.

This bowl has great form as the body gradually tapers down toward the bottom and is deep. The inside has a dark almost chocolate brown appearance and this piece is not very heavy.

Brown excelsior, (also included), was used inside the bowl and almost creates a nest for the cloved oranges and other accents. These oranges smell absolutely heavenly lending a spicy ~ sweet scent but look very primitive as well. The scent is not strong but more of a hint that gently permeates the area it is placed in.

Sprigs of faux greens were tucked in to add interest and color and a chenille candy cane sprinkled with Mica acts as the focal point. Cinnamon sticks are also included in this gathering tied with a piece of cranberry red, tiny checked homespun.

This bowl is already dressed for the holidays and can be displayed instantly once received possibly on a breadboard or tucked into an open cupboard! How's that for convenience? Happy Holidays and Enjoy!

The bowl stands 3 3/4" Tall, almost 6" across the top diameter and 3" across the bottom diameter. Cloved oranges are approximately 2" Wide by 1 1/2" across and slightly vary in size.
