This vintage Dietz Blizzard No. 2 lantern was found in Lexington, Virginia (Shenandoah Valley) and is about 14 1/2" tall and 8" wide. It has been recently wired for electricity and has an exterior off/on switch just below the glass globe. A wire lift raises the chimney to remove the globe for cleaning and/or to change the light bulb. The finish has weathered to a soft charcoal color with a small amount of rust on the base at the back and an even less amount evident on the top, making for a lovely old patina that is most pleasing. In excellent condition, this piece provides the wonderful primitive lighting appropriate for any country style home.
